RE: Motor Home Covers

I've used an ADCO cover for the last 8 or 9 years in brutal winter snows and winds. The first one was tortured in the wind and gave up after a couple of years. ADCO replaced it and I'm working on the second one now. I think it's seen its last year. I sewed and taped in places to keep it alive for one more winter. It helps tremendously with the freeze/thaw cycles we get here to keep snow/water out from places where it'd expand when freeze. ADCO works for me. I'd highly recommend it.

RE: Trying to Decide Whether to Buy and If So What?

Since mine is worth about that much, it's a 92, 32', 454 I guess I'd recommend looking for something around that old. I'd make sure it had an overdrive transmission and a comfortable layout. We enjoy ours; only need usual maintenance, replace tires every 5 years or so etc. I've seen both junk and great looking coaches in this price range. Look around and you'll be surprised at what's out there. Happy Hunting. I do all maintenance myself and I'd say this is also a necessity since there's "always something". :)

RE: Magnetic Lights

Run it from the MH, under the hood, in the front door, out the back, then I guess you'd have to use tape or other magnets to hold it in place. Other option would be to run it completely underneath, then find a place lower on the Toad. Personally, I'd run wires to the back and visit NAPA, get a socket and put it in the OEM tail lights.

RE: Preference for base plate?

Great point on front bumper reinstall for Demco and Blue Ox. I looked at the schematics for both and noticed BOx uses 4 bolts to Demco 3 so might go with BOx. Thanx again for everyone's input. Sold the Jeep today so I really need to get on the stick... of course, I can still use the Jeep if I really need it... always a procrastinators friend.

RE: Preference for base plate?

Know what you mean by different in 09. Parked next to one last week in Ann Arbor so had a real comparison... many changes. Guess which ever one I go with will be pricy, but at least I can get the base plate. Wish you luck. You might have to go to the source and let them use your vehicle as the prototype :) Thanx all for your input.

Preference for base plate?

I'm ready to install a baseplate on my new Fit. My Jeep has all Blue Ox. Does anyone have reasons to pick one brand over another (i.e. easier install, more durability, etc.) Blue Ox, Demco, Ready Brute, Roadmaster. Think I'm going with Ready Brake, but local shop has a great deal on Alladin, aluminum for $550 so might go with that and use the Ready Brake from there forward. Anyway, just looking for informed opinions. Thanx

RE: Cheap Gas! $2.859 Yesterday

Man, and I was pretty happy filling up last night for $3.59... popped my bubble. Of course, in Traverse City, the view of the bay is half the pay so we always get to pay more :)

RE: Looking for 24' to 26' Class A

There's a short one for sale about 2 miles from my place. Pace Arrow I think, but never stopped to take a look. It looks kinda funny being so short. If you're interested i could stop by and take a look. PM me.

RE: neat conversion

There's one in Marquette, MI harbor that takes a step ladder to enter, but it's purpose is for short trips in da U.P., and then to pull there 30+ something boat which they live on in the summer. Practical yes, beautiful, "only in the eyes of the beer holder" :)

RE: Canada Border Crossing

My advice, have one person do all the talking or get your stories straight. I gave one answer on booze, and my DW gave another.... bingo, you just won the "search" prize. :)

Onan Surge

Rv: 1992 Itasca 454 gas Onan 6.5 NH Problem: Hard starting, then surging and wouldn't keep running. Started pulling it out (generator slide out envy here) and had to pull it so far out to change plugs, and thought, points that I eventually pulled it all the way out, put it on a pallet and hauled it to the shop. Turns out it has electronic ignition. Turns out it was the diaphram pulloff, tube choke HSG, and element thermostat. Of course, the real finding was that the voltage regulator was fried, and was kicking out 160 volts. A good thing to find before it burned out air conditioners, microwave etc. Shop changed out the voltage regulator. Installed yesterday and it runs great, kicking out the right voltage. Thanks to Cummins Bridgeway in Traverse City for the great job.

RE: Its hot

Mine has a turn knob on the dash that shuts off the circulation to the rear. If not, a valve could easily... well sort of... be installed along the pipe line someplace. Look for the knob next to the rear fan knob, it should be there. Hope this helps.

RE: Class A Hot Water Heater Survey?

Wow, guess I'm in the minority here. We seldom turn it on until really needed. Put a large coffee maker on electric for dishes etc., but with a 20 min. lead time, we get all the propane hot water we need. While going down the road our engine transfers heat to the hot water system which also lasts for hours after arriving someplace.

RE: Fitch fuel catalyst anyone

Good to know that it's been around before. Thought it was something new because of similar technology to exhaust systems... Guess I'm gonna save my money till I see some other real world info.

Fitch fuel catalyst anyone

Anybody using the Fitch Fuel Catalyst? I'm considering putting one on so the fuel that sits a little too long will be fresh in the engine. Opinions? http://www.fitchfuelcatalyst.com/ thanx Lar

RE: Looking for a take it all trailer

Sounds like you need to switch to a Super C Garage unit... tows 40,000 lbs. and hauls quite a bit as well. :)

This site seems to have a pretty good comparison: http://mrtruck.net/shootout5a.htm Not 2008's but close.

RE: Stabilizing a Class A that does not have levelers..

Glad you guys are using my ramp idea that got published in trailer life :) I use blocks as well, but drill through the high side of all together, put a wire as a handle through all ramps, then I can swivel any out of the way that would make it too high. Oh, I also angle cut the edges for easier driving on. I do have stabilizing jacks, but never carry them anymore since I never used them.
